A total of 43 dogs entered the Ely & District Wildfowler’s Association gundog test held at Frank’s Farm , March, inCambridgeshire, by kind permission of Mr. Michael Deptford on Sunday 1st September.

The minor breeds proved exceptional  amidst some stiff competition from the more popular labrador retrievers.

Winner of the Open test, sponsored by the British Association for Shooting & Conservation was E Bristow‘s Labrador bitch Olive.

2nd Place went to Haley Drew Labrador Dee

3rd was John Iacono’s Labrador dog Saharalhi Cahira.

The Ken Gandy novice test sponsored by Ely & District Wildfowlers was won by Jacqui Crew and her flat Coat retriever Casblauidd Quill Hogan.

Runner up was  Ms J Waddington who came all the way from Lancashire to run her Irish Water Spaniel Kirkmash Wild Beanside.

Third place went to D Gresty with his  Irish Water Spaniel Kirk Marsh Torrent.

David Wilcox with his Irish Water Spaniel bitch  Niamh took the highest scoring Ely & District WA trophy, while the team of four Irish Water Spaniels under the team heading the Kirkmarsh Fliers took the team trophy scoring 221 out of a possible 240.

Runners up for the team event were Gameflight Training club scoring 216.

All places were sponsored by  Cabnine Food Specialist CSJ.  Sales of refreshments and draw tickets on the day raised £200 which will be split between the Air Ambulance and March Paramedic appeal.
