Huw Jones talks about the trip to Ireland for the first of the Internationals

By June 30, 2015Gundogs
Just to update you on DSCF2714the trip to Ireland for the first of the Internationals.

The two teams did really well and I was over the moon with the new team members that we took for the first time, they handled the pressure of competing at International Gundog event as I would have expected they handled they’re dogs over a very hard test course really well.

We did not win but came 2nd to Ireland but beat England and Scotland on both days, most of the teams handlers at Shanes castle will be running they’re dogs at the Cla therefore the standard of the dogs was very high.

Wales took the honours of top overseas Retriever with Haydn Willmott scoring 96 out of hundred and Alistair Ross took top overseas spaniel with 83 out of 100 and myself second with 81.

We were really close on winning and i still think we did.  However the judge awarded the last Irish dog to run on the day 98/100.  We had the same with the spaniels both myself and Alistair had 43 out of 50 in the spaniel test for hunting but the two Irish dogs had 45 it was that close.

I hope we did you proud and that’s all you could hear of the show speakers was how smart the Wales team look so thank you very much for making us look like that i have attached a photo of the team for you, and ill post photos of the weekend later on facebook

Speak to you soon and thank you from The Wales gundog team
