Free shipping sounds great, but in reality it should be called ‘Shipping included’ not ‘Free shipping’…
Of course, you can’t really buy the product you want without any P&P, the delivery companies don’t work for free. We all fall for it, but the truth is the shipping cost is always built into the retail price. So, you can end up paying more for both your product and the shipping!
At CSJ we believe in 100% transparency
That means we do charge for shipping. But it also means we show the lowest price possible for your product. So, when we add the best shipping cost we can find, we’re not trying to pull the wool over your eyes, we’re giving you the best possible deal.
Lots of big retailers have followed Amazon’s lead in making free shipping the norm. But it doesn’t always give customers the best deal. Yes, free shipping sounds like a discount, but the only people who gain are the retailers, by building in an added cost.
We believe in offering a fair deal
We calculate the delivery charge, based on the order size and your location, when you place items in your basket. You can see clearly what the costs are by clicking on the ‘Estimated Shipping Charges’ link on your basket page to see the delivery charge for your order. Some items (such as herbs and treats) have the shipping cost included and no delivery charge will be shown in this case. As a guide the courier contract is for 30kg.
Our P&P costs are second to none
In 2019, the price of a First Class stamp is 67p and the price of a Second Class stamp is 58p. However, for CSJ products send to England Wales and the Scottish Lowlands, the cost is £6.85 per 30 kg. That’s around 23p for 1 kg. Everywhere else in the UK costs £10.10 per 30kg.
Herbs & treats go by 2nd Class Royal Mail
We send out our smaller items, such as herbs and treats, etc. by 2nd Class Royal Mail post and include the postage charge in the price, because Royal Mail charge the same price for the whole of the UK. It’s only our 15 – 30kg food orders that we deliver by courier ( DPD) and have to charge by destination.
Remember – there’s no such thing as free delivery
